Historical Fiction for Children. A Bibliography.

Description of Site.

Something about Myself

I have an MA with second class honours in History from Glasgow University. I have worked both as a teacher and as a schools librarian.

Copyright Note

This web site is under copyright but it can be downloaded and accessed free and single copies may be printed for private study.

Multi-Format publication

Available on the internet and also as a conventional book

Books are continually being written and the old ones go in and out of print with a startling speed. It goes without saying that it will be much easier to keep the web site up to date than a hard copy. Still some people prefer a printed book hence the reason for the conventional publication. Click for details of the book.

Updating

The web site is still under construction and there are many books still to be added. It will be updated frequently. To see the latest additions go to the New Additions in the Contents section When books go out of print they will not be deleted. They will just be moved to the Out of Print section. This section also contains a limited number of older out-of-print books.

The Out of Print section is going to be expanded.

Availability of Books

Because books go in and out of print so rapidly nowadays there is no guarantee that the books in this bibliography are still in print.

Age of Readers

The age group for which each book is suitable is given at the end of the note on the book. As children mature and develop at different rates these suggested ages must be taken as rough guides only.

Younger Children

I would like to point out that there is much excellent writing for the seven to eleven age group and I would urge those who are mainly interested in books for older children to still take a quick look at the books for the younger readers.

I have found a number of little gems and I think it would be a shame if they are to be written off as "just a little children's book."

Arrangement of Titles

In most cases titles are arranged as follows. Books for older children at the beginning, and books for younger children at the end of the section. Out-of-Print books come at the very end of the section.

Note to Authors

As this is a non commercial site there is no charge to an author to have their books included. Also, it is hoped to introduce a list of links to authors' own web sites. Any author wanting to contact me can send me an e-mail. Click for e-mail box.
