The Derbyshire Canine
Centre is situated off the A6187
(formerly A625) in over thirty acres of grassland in the heart
of the beautiful Peak District National Park. In addition to the
training field which has a double set of Working Trial jumps,
there is also extra grassland available for tracking, a classroom
for behavioural consultations and lectures, and a large indoor
school for use in inclement weather. Some of the services offered
include:
PROBLEM DOGS Individual help and advice, on a confidential basis
and in a friendly informal atmosphere, is available to owners
who have problems with their dogs. For example: aggression to
people or dogs, separation problems, destructive chewing, difficulties
with house training or car travel, excessive barking, phobias,
nervousness, control or training problems etc Only kind simple
methods used.
INDIVIDUAL & CLASS
LESSONS are available for:
1 Basic and Advanced training for pet owners.
2 Working Trials Training for Fun, for owners who are not interested
in competing, but would like to widen their dog's horizon and
give him the opportunity of using his innate abilities in nose
work -tracking, searching etc -as well as some agility and the
more advanced control exercises.
3 Working Trials training for those who wish to compete. Sheila
Bailey has students with varying breeds, competing, qualifying
and winning in both Open and Championship Stakes, including "Ticket"
and "Reserve Ticket" in the top two Stakes and cups
for the "Best Track" and "Best Control Round".
HALF & FULL DAY
Tuition for both individuals and groups
can be arranged by appointment.
WEEKEND COURSES are held from May to
October covering a variety of canine subjects.

YOUR DOG After four years of writing
regular articles for PetDogs magazine, Sheila has recently written
a series of articles about the more creative types of exercises
that dog owners can teach to their dogs for "Your Dog"
