Historical Fiction for Children. A Bibliography.
This is not just a list of books. There is a note or synopsis of every book mentioned. Can be accessed and downloaded free.
My own books --- historical adventure stories for older children and dog lovers of all ages. My qualifications, experience, interests. My dogs. Photographs included. Also included is a selection of short stories which you can download and read free.
The Rooskie Press is my own imprint and the first book to be published under it is Solway Sleuth-Hounds. The Rooskie Press is primarily for the publication of my own books but I also hope to reprint some out-of-print books which provide valuable historical source material.
This section also includes details of the little Papillon Rooskie -- from whom the Rooskie Press gets its name -- and his attempts at Heelwork to Music. Just click on Rooskie.
Mary and Rooskie are now on YouTube. Both clips about Rooskie and clips about the Rooskie Press. Just go to the home page of YouTube and go to the Search box at the top of the page. Then type in marysmoffat All one word and lower case letters. And don't forget the S in the middle. This should bring up all Mary's clips.
Many of my books are set on the Scottish side of the Solway Firth. This is a very beautiful part of the country with a fascinating history. I have included a selection of photographs together with notes on the region. Also notes on some of the famous people who lived there such as John Paul Jones the founder of the American navy and Scotland's national poet Robert Burns.

Here I am in the garden of my holiday chalet on the shores of the Solway Firth -- with my little Papillon Rooskie when he was only 3 months old.
Rooskie is the Galloway Tinkler-Gypsy word for basket and he is called that because he is small enough to go into a gypsy basket.
He is called after a little dog in a book I have written -- Solway Sleuth-Hounds. The First Recruit. -- mystery and adventure set at the time of Robert Burns.
