The School Library Association
The name says it all. Just click.
This is a site for anyone interested in children's literature whether they are parents, teachers or authors. It often gets around 60,000 hits a month, has won awards and has been mentioned in The Times Educational Supplement. Is a good site for book reviews and has author pages.
This site developed from the original Wordpool site. It has links to the individual web pages of a comprehensive list of children's authors and illustrators. There are also links to the main children's publishers.
As if all this is not enough this site also provides invaluable reference aids. It does this by providing a page of links to various organisations which will be of help to authors, teachers, librarians and many more. For example, it even gives details of universities offering an MA course in Children's Literature.
This site is an absolute must for anyone interested in Children's Literature.
This is another Wordpool site which helps those who desire their own page on the internet.
This is a site specially for children. It has been built and is maintained by Alan Brown, a retired teacher. It is a large, comprehensive site with information about children's books, both classic and modern.
It is also interactive. Children are asked to send in their own book reviews, say who their favourite authors are, and even send in stories they have written themselves. There are also quizzes.
There is a large number of very useful links -- to publishers' sites, to the sites of individual authors and to the sites of the main awards such as the Newbery Award.
And as if all this is not enough there is also an opportunity to download and read a limited number of out-of-copyright books.
This site may be intended for children but many adults will find plenty to interest them too.
A site well worth visiting.
This is a large multimedia children's literature database useful to both parents and teachers. It has links to individual author sites. Also to sites about books, resources and teaching materials -- and much more.
