I now have my own imprint -- the Rooskie Press called after my little dog. At first the Rooskie Press will be just for the publication of my own books.
But I also hope to reprint some out-of-print books which are valuable historical source material.
The first book to be published under
the Rooskie Press imprint is Solway Sleuth-Hounds:
The First Recruit.
I hope it will be the first of a
series. It is a mystery and adventure story set in southwest Scotland
at the time of Robert Burns. The historical background has been
carefully researched and there are also detailed historical notes.
I hope to market it as a
fun way to learn history.
All Rooskie Press books are going to be published using the new technology of Print on Demand or POD with one of the leading digital printers in the country. (With this new technology, once a book is set up electronically, it can be printed and bound in a matter of minutes. So no problems about print runs or warehousing).
Hopefully, in a few years time I shall be able to sign a POD agreement with one of the biggest book distributors in the country.
I shall market it myself locally. For sales further afield there is Amazon.
All the Rooskie Press books can be ordered direct from the Rooskie Press web site or from the online bookshop Amazon (UK). The Ordering links are on the synopsis pages of the books concerned.
How I chose the name
For my imprint I have chosen the name Rooskie Press.
Rooskie is the name of my dog. He is a little Papillon. Rooskie is the gypsy word for basket and he is called that because he is small enough to go into a gypsy basket. He has the certificates for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Bronze and Silver. We are also trying Heelwork to Music together. Rooskie is called after a dog in my book Solway Sleuth-Hounds.
To find out more about Rooskie and see some photographs of him click on links for
My Dogs. And also Rooskie. Stories and Memories.
What will happen? Will the Rooskie Press be
a success? Only time will tell.
And in this case all readers of this site are being invited to
follow the progress of the Rooskie
Press in its own newsletter.
This will take the form of a kind of diary and give details of the progress of the Rooskie Press and of Solway Sleuth-Hounds -- publication, when it is sent to the printer, when it is published, marketing news, publicity, sales etc.
Alongside this will be more personal details about myself. And of Rooskie of course, and his Heelwork to Music.
So here is a chance to follow the progress of one particular POD undertaking.
