Moff came to me as a six month old pup. Unlike Dusty he did not attend the dog class. I just trained him at home. He made good progress and I took him to a couple of Obedience Shows. But we did not stay long in Obedience. We were soon in Working Trials.

Like Dusty he eventually qualified CDEx. Shortly after qualifying I retired him. I brought him out of retirement many years later when he was eleven years old and took him to the local dog class which was now doing the tests for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog. Moff worked for the test and got his KC Good Citizen Dog certificate. It would now be the Bronze certificate but when Moff took the test it was the only one.

He is doing the scale or scramble jump in the CD stake at the Championship Working Trials of the Scottish Working Trials Society at Lauder.

He is doing Heelwork at the Championship Obedience Show of the Scottish Kennel Club held at Ingliston, just outside Edinburgh.

When I was researching The Canine Cavalier I attended a Working Trials training session on Newmarket Heath. Here is Moff practising jumping.

In the years after his retirement from Working Trials Moff helped me with my writing. When I was researching The Canine Cavalier he walked me all over Newmarket Heath. It was at Newmarket that he also gave me the idea which forms the backbone of Ghost Dog of the Solway. We were at the top of Warren Hill. I turned quickly and took a path into the plantation. I had not gone far when I relised that Moff had not followed me. I retraced my steps and found him dashing about looking very distressed. He had not seen me turn into the plantation and he thought he had lost me. I later used that incident in Ghost Dog. The Ghost Dog is really just searching for its mistress.
