Solway Photographs --- Southerness Beaches

Southerness has two extensive beaches divided by a line of rocks which juts out into the Solway. One beach runs along Gilfoot Bay. The other, to the west, is part of the Mersehead Sands. Southerness also has the second oldest lighthouse in Scotland.

Rooskie is a very small dog but he has an amazing amount of stamina and he enjoys long walks along the Solway beaches. And along the Solway there are miles and miles of sands for him to romp over. Here are some photographs of one of his favourite beaches at Gilfoot Bay, Southerness.

The same beach but in the opposite direction. Taken at low tide in the evening. This photo shows the vast expanse of sand. Truly a doggy paradise.

Finally here is a picture of the other beach at Southerness. The Mersehead Sands at high tide with my last dog Moff.
