Solway Photographs --- Kippford and the River Urr

The village of Kettleby in Ghost Dog of the Solway is based on the real village of Kippford.

Kippford is a small village near the mouth of the River Urr. Early in the nineteenth century there was boat building but now Kippford is a sailing and yachting centre.

Below is a general view of Kippford looking up the Urr valley towards the town of Dalbeattie -- four miles away.

Here is a view from the opposite direction. Looking down the River Urr towards Rough Firth and Rough Island.
